The hazards of particulate dust matter are now well documented and with this recognition comes increased regulation and scrutiny. That’s why many industries have begun investing in active particulate dust monitoring equipment. One of the newest systems in Australia is called the Dustroid™ – a smart, real-time suspended particulate dust monitor.

The Dustroid™ is able to monitor particulate dust ranging from 1 – 100 microns in size including Ultrafine Suspended Particulate Matter, Suspended Particulate Matter and Respiratory Suspended Particulate Matter. This ability to profile particulate matter by size ensures highly detailed analysis is possible.

The Dustroid™ system actively samples the environment using a constant airflow rate of 1 litre per minute. It then measures and analyses the particulate dust matter using a highly accurate laser beam. As a result, the Dustroid™ system is particularly useful for industries such as:

  • Mining and quarrying
  • Construction and demolition
  • Bulk handling and transfer
  • Some manufacturing processes

When the particulate dust levels exceed the nominated threshold, automatic alerts are triggered. These can be programmed to automatically activate any type of dust suppression system including:

  • Dust collectors
  • Mist cannons
  • Sprinklers
  • And HEPA filters

In addition, the Dustroid™ can also measure wind, rain and humidity to provide a more thorough analysis and modelling of how weather affects particulate dust levels.

The Dustroid™ Particulate Monitoring System also features:

  • Plug and play design for ease of installation
  • An ability to use either an external or solar power source
  • Backup battery time of up to 48 hours
  • Durability and IP65 grade weather protection
  • Capacity to work at temperatures ranging from -20°C – +60°C and humidity of 0-90% (according to SASO test report)

Weighing only 6.5kg, the Dustroid™ monitor is highly portable so it’s easy to move between or within sites.
