Situation:

As part of a refurbishment Alstom Power required special emergency gas cooling sprays. These sprays are designed to operate when the gas reaches a defined temperature, and rapidly reduce gas temperature to prevent the gas igniting the bag filters.

Problem:

The design specified nozzles with a very high flow rate that could also produce extremely small droplets. The water droplets need to evaporate quickly and cool the gas, but the spray must not carry to the filter bags and cause them to be wet.

Solution:

Tecpro Australia selected special high flow nozzles from the PNR Evaporative Cooling range. These had low air requirements while producing fine droplets at large water flowrates.
In separate parts of the plant they also supplied special high impact nozzles and the necessary stainless steel pipework to clean the large filter screens for the incoming cooling water.
